We’ll start with the Queens boys, which has historically been the weakest of the Boroughs. The highest a Queens boys team has finished at the City Championship since 2021 is 9th: The Academy of American Studies in 2024 and Francis Lewis in 2023. The last Queens boys program to qualify for the Federation meet was Metropolitan Campus, who finished 4th in 2019. Before that, you have to go all the way back to 2004 to find a Queens program in the top four (Francis Lewis). The last Queens team to win a City Championship was Andrew Jackson HS (Now Campus Magnet Educational Campus), in 1964.

The PSAL website lists 25 boys programs on the PSAL’s website. We’ll rank their performance since the Pandemic in reverse order.
21. (TIED)
Energy Tech High School
Long Island City High School
High School for Law Enforcement and Public Safety
Queens Gateway to Health Sciences
Robert F. Kennedy High School
None of these programs have competed in the Queens Borough Championships in the 2020s.
20. Grover Cleveland High School
Their best Borough Finish since the Pandemic was 15th in 2024. They started the Boroughs race in 2023, but only 4 runners finished. Their fastest athlete has been Carlos Macias, who ran 21:16 at Van Cortlandt in 2024.
19. Information Technology High School
Their best Borough finish this decade was 14th in 2024. In 2025, Raul Flores ran 22:07, which is their fastest time of the decade.
18. John Bowne High School
13th place finishes in 2023 and 2024 were their best of the decade so far. In 2025, senior Derron Lewin ran 20:31, their fastest time of the decade thus far.
17. Newtown High School
Fielded a team for the first time this decade with their 12th place finish at Borough Championships. In 2025, James Franklin ran their fastest time of the decade, 22:09 at the Borough Championship.
16. William C. Bryant High School
They have competed in two straight Borough Championships, which is a good sign for the program. They were 12th in 2024 and 13th in 2025. In 2024, Julio Pico ran 19:49 to set their school’s best time of the decade.
15. HS for Arts and Business
Their only appearance at the Borough Championship meet was in 2021, when they finished 11th. However, they have competed in each season this decade, which is something all of the programs ranked behind them cannot say.
14. Queens High School of Teaching
Their 9th place finish in 2024 was their only appearance in the team standings so far this decade. Their top runner in 2024 was Maxxluis Rivera, who ran 21:02.
13. Hillcrest High School
Hillcrest has fielded a team at 3 of the 5 Borough Championships this decade, with 17th, 14th, and 10th place finishes. Their top time is 24:49, which has been run by two runners, Jacob Austin in 2025 and Daniel Scringer in 2021.
12. Queens High School Complex
They have fielded teams in the last 4 Borough Championships, with their best finish being 9th in 2023. In 2025, Jonah Fox-Chmielewski ran 19:39 to set their decade record.
11. Thomas Edison
Competed at Boroughs in 2023 and 2025, finishing 12th and 8th, respectively. Their fastest time of 18:42 was run by Jayron Salazar in 2025.
10. Aviation HS
They have competed in the last 3 Borough Championships, finishing in the top ten each time. They also competed in the JV race in 2022. In 2025, David Oropeza-Sosa ran 18:47.
9. The Scholar’s Academy
They have fielded a team each year this decade, but for some reason did not compete at Boroughs in 2025. They have finishes of 8th, 8th, 11th and 11th leading up to this past season. Their fastest time of the decade was 21:05, run in 2023 by Isaiah Jones.
8. Bayside High School
The top 8 programs in Queens have all competed in the City Championship this decade. Bayside has competed at Cities once, finishing 26th (last) in 2023. Their best Boroughs finish was 4th that same year. Otherwise they have three 6th place finishes and a 10th place finish this decade. In 2024, Nathanael Hansen ran 19:40.
7. Townsend Harris High School
Townsend Harris has only competed at Cities once this decade, finishing 17th in 2021. Their top finish at Boroughs was 4th that same year. Otherwise, they have three 7th place finishes and one 5th. In 2021, Jake Chang ran 17:28 at Cities to qualify for the Federation meet as an individual.
6. Benjamin Cardozo
Cardozo finished 19th (last place) at the City Championship in 2021 and was 3rd in Queens that same year. They have not been back to the City Championship since. Since 2021, they have 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place Borough finishes. In 2024, Mason Salis ran 19:00, their fastest time of the decade.
5. Metropolitan Campus
Metropolitan Campus was arguably the program hit hardest by the timing of the Pandemic. Their program’s best season was 2019 when they finished 4th at Cities with a team that consisted of five juniors that would have returned in 2020. They’ve qualified for the City Championship in each of the last three years, finishing a decade-best 12th in 2025. In each of the last four years, they’ve finished in the top five in Queens. In 2025, Amrit Singh ran 18:18.
4. Academy of American Studies
They hit the all-access lottery with the Maru brothers in 2024 and 2025. As a result, their 9th and 10th place finishes in 2021, 2022 and 2023 turned into 2nd place and 4th place finishes in 2024 and 2025, respectively. In 2024, they finished in the top ten at Cities and in 2025, Umed Maru earned All-State honors, running 16:31 at Bowdoin Park to finish 25th at the Federation meet. They finished 11th at Cities in 2025 and probably should have finished higher, but they couldn’t return some of the runners from their 2024 squad.
3. Francis Lewis High School
Francis Lewis is the defending Borough Champ and boasts the highest finish for a Queens school this decade, with a 9th place finish in 2023. They have qualified for the City Championship three times this decade. Eric Lin’s 18:29 this past season was their fastest time of the 2020s.
2. High School for Construction
They have qualified for the City Championship every year this decade, finishing 14th or better four times. Their best finish was 10th in 2024. They might’ve finished higher in 2025 if Giuseppe Gambino had not missed the City Championship. They won the Queens championship in 2024, their only title of the decade, but they’ve finished in the Top three each year. Gambino ran 17:18 to qualify for the Federation meet in 2024.
1. Forest Hills High School
Although they aren’t trending in the right direction, finishing 4th in 2024 and 6th in 2025, they won the first three Queens titles of the decade. They have qualified for four of the five City Championships this decade, with their highest finish being 12th in 2023. In 2022, Matthew Chu ran 18:36 for their top time this decade.
