Last one before Fall Previews!

2 min read

This will be the last post before we start our Fall previews. After reviewing each borough, there’s no need to review the entire City in a post, but we can quickly compare all of the teams that have qualified for every City Championship this decade.

On the boys side, there are ten programs that have qualified for the championship every year. Below is the total of their scores from each year.

1. Brooklyn Tech                     307

2. Bronx Science                      541

3. Stuyvesant                          621

4. Hunter College Campus      644

5. MSIT                                    842

6. HSMSE                                 1050

7. John Jay Campus                 1234

8. Bard                                     1649

9. HS of American Studies      1691

10. HS for Construction          1746

On the girls side, there are eight programs that have qualified for the championship every year. Below is the total of their scores from each year.

1. Stuyvesant                          414

2. Brooklyn Tech                     601

3. Hunter College Campus      725

4. Bronx Science                      740

5. LaGuardia                            762

6. Townsend Harris                 1308

7. HSMSE                                 1320

8. John Jay Campus                 1480

Before we start our previews, we could use your help. To write an accurate and more complete preview, it would help us greatly if we knew where some of the top eighth graders were going to run. This is more important on the girls side, since freshman boys rarely impact the varsity scene (Tristan Acevedo is the exception, not the rule). However, on the girls side every Championship-winning team this decade has had at least one freshman on their varsity squad.  So, we went through both club results and the results of the middle school league (MSAL) that runs a few meets in the Fall.

We also looked at track results and identified some talented distance runners who did not run in the Fall because they did other sports. Feel free to let us know if you know any information about any of these runners. BackHillsXC@gmail.com
