Girls


Bob Pratt Invitational – Sunken Meadow State Park

The Bayside girls finished 9th and the RKA girls finished 11th of 12 teams in the Varsity Red race. Bayside was led by the 1-2 punch of Christina Sakellis (22nd, 23:20) and Natalie Niselson (26th, 23:36).  RKA was led again by Ofelia Villanueva (29th, 23:49)


The real story of the race was LaGuardia’s Naomi Douglas, who ran a staggering 18:56, winning the race by more than two minutes! Best we can tell, she’s only the 2nd ever PSAL girl to break 19 minutes on the difficult Sunken Meadow course


Suffern Invitational – Bear Mountain State Park

The Bronx Science sent 4 girls, with Rossitsa Petrova finishing 16th in the Varsity C race, running 19:59 for the 3 mile course.


Xavier Invitational – Dirt field outside Ocean Breeze Indoor Track

The Girls Varsity A Race of 12 teams featured 4 PSAL squads.

3rd HSMSE

4th Fiorello LaGuardia (without 2 of their top 3 girls)

7th Bard


Top 20 finishers: 2nd Gwyneth Shupp (LaGuardia), 4th Phoebe Estep (HSMSE), 7th Eleanor Lewis Jenkins (Bard), 12th Alyssa Chung (HSMSE), 15th Bo Bernard (HSMSE), 16th Stella Rojek (John Jay), 19th Virginia Begley (LaGuardia)


The Girls Varsity B Race of 12 teams featured 2 PSAL squads.

8th Tottenville

10th Townsend Harris


Clinton School’s Melia Murphy ran the JV race for some reason, and won by nearly 3 minutes, running 18:52.


Boys

Bob Pratt Invitational – Sunken Meadow State Park

The Brooklyn Tech boys finished 3rd to Manhasset and Monroe-Woodbury in the Varsity Red race. Alexander Jones finished 2nd overall in 16:58. Certainly not an overwhelming effort by Tech standards, they averaged 17:48 and had a 1-5 split of 1:27.

 

Suffern Invitational – Bear Mountain State Park

The Bronx Science boys traveled north to win the Varsity C race with a dominating 1-3-6-11-12-13 finish. They had a 1-5 spread of 1:20. Junior Ben Berman won the race, running the 3 mile course in 15:52. The Wolverines also won the 3-race merge.

 

The HS of American Studies finished 14th in the Varsity B race, led by Jack McCurry’s 8th place finish in 16:34.

 

Xavier Invitational – Dirt field outside Ocean Breeze Indoor Track

The Boys Varsity A Race of 15 teams featured 5 PSAL squads.

3rd HSMSE                               1:07 1-5 split

4th Bard                                   2:30 1-5 split

7th Fiorello LaGuardia             5:37 1-5 split

9th John Jay Campus               2:55 1-5 split

10th HS for Construction         5:11 1-5 split

 

Top 20 finishers: 3rd Ariel Yaron (LaGuardia), 4th Ezekiel Cohen (LaGuardia), 5th Giuseppe Gambino (HS for Construction), 7th Ramsey Hansen (Bard), 13th Henry Dahl (HSMSE), 15th Brendan Hoffman (HSMSE), 16th Weston Macari (Bard), 18th Wilson Margolis (John Jay), 19th Isaac Tom (HSMSE)

 

Manhattan Center Freshman Collin Toung led his team with a 31st place finish in Varsity A
