7. Midwood! (welcome back!) - 190 points

PSAL runners made up half of the top ten finishers in the race. Brooklyn Tech’s Francesca Haidt won the race in 20:18, however that time would have placed her 15th in the Varsity B race

Top 20 finishers: Francesca Haidt (Brooklyn Tech) 1st, Evelyn Craig (Brooklyn Craig) 2nd, Matilda Quinn (John Jay Campus) 3rd, Eleanor Lewis Jenkins (Bard) 6th, Kylie Chan (Bard) 10th, Lily Korniewicz (Brooklyn Tech) 12th, Noelle Barone (Midwood) 13th, Angelina Zapata (Brooklyn Tech)

The Girls Varsity B Race of 18 teams featured 5 PSAL squads.

2. LaGuardia - 56 points

9. Townsend Harris - 206 points

11. Tottenville - 232 points

12. The Clinton School - 289 points

Despite finishing 2nd, the LaGuardia girls sent a clear message to the rest of league: They are unquestionably the team to beat. They placed 3 girls under 20 minutes and a total of 8 under 22 minutes. Of course once the Susan Wagner girls run a serious race on this course, we’ll be able to see how close this race actually is.

Top 20 finishers: Naomi Douglas (LaGuardia) 2nd, Melia Murphy (The Clinton School) 3rd, Genevieve Backus (LaGuardia) 12th, Virginia Begley (LaGuardia) 13th, Gwyneth Shupp (LaGuardia) 16th

Tottenville’s Maeve Heck won the Girls Freshman Race by well over a minute, in a time that would have placed her 6th in the Boys Freshman race.

Bob Pratt Invitational – Sunken Meadow State Park

The Bronx Science boys won the Varsity Blue Race with a total of 64 points without their full squad. They had an impressive 1-5 split of :41 and took down a solid St. Anthony’s squad on their home course. They were led by sophomore Christopher Thom’s 6th place finish in 17:29.

Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy finished 26th in the Varsity Red Race. Sophomores Mason Tejada and Ethan Lopez paced RKA with 104th and 105th place finishes.

BHXC PSAL Rankings – After Week Two

Girls

1. Fiorello LaGuardia - Statement made at Xavier this weekend.

2. Susan Wagner - Still no weekend racing, 4 of their top 5 ran the Grand Prix at Ocean Breeze

3. Brooklyn Tech - Impressive Top 2, not much after that

4. Bronx Science - decent showing at Sunken Meadow - certainly not yet at full strength

5. Beacon - No weekend racing yet, but the first Grand Prix showed a solid freshman and some good 5K efforts.

6. Tottenville - Finished behind Townsend Harris at Xavier, but that will change once Maeve Heck enters the varsity equation.

7. Stuyvesant - did not race this weekend. Grand Prix effort in Prospect Park seemed like a tempo.

8. Townsend Harris - solid pack effort 1-4, only a :53 spread. The emergence of a 5th girl would jump them up these rankings.

9. Hunter - Only a Grand Prix appearance, but one that showed a decent 1-5 without their top returner.

10. Francis Lewis - did not race this weekend. Ran the Grand Prix without their top runner.

11. HSMSE - Top 2 seemed like they ran hard in the first Grand Prix. Will need 3-5 to move up.

12. RKA - Another solid showing with two sophomores leading the way. A team on the rise for sure.
